Banigo Seeks Employment For Rivers Indigenes
Rivers State Government has charged corporate organizations operating in the state to consider the employment of indigenes to give the people of the state a sense of belonging.
The state Deputy Governor, Dr. Ipalibo Harry Banigo, made the appeal yesterday while playing host to the Management of Zenith Bank Plc and First City Monument Bank (FCMB), in Government House, Port Harcourt.
Banigo noted that the state government was keen on providing better livelihood opportunities for her citizens and would partner with organizations that are prepared to assist in this direction.
According to her, “the vision of the present administration to create wealth would require the supportand assistance of stakeholders in different sectors of the economy”.
The deputy governor, urged commercial banks to interface more with the communities in their areas of operation and engage in meaningful projects as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
Dr. Banigo said the state government would continue to provide a conducive working environment for law abiding citizens and corporate organisations to pursue their legitimate businesses.
She noted that the visit of the bankers had created an avenue for both parties to explore and strengthen other areas of collaboration, and commended them for the kind words about the state government.
In their separate speeches, the Zonal Head, Business Operations, FCMB, Mrs. Ada Bob-Iyough, lauded the vision of the present administration, and pledged the support of her bank to realize set objectives.
Also speaking, Branch Manager FCMB, Mr. Chidi Ibiudialo, disclosed that the Bank would soon complete a hostel accommodation project at the State University of Science Technology (RSUST), built as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility.
