Power: BEDC Seeks Collaboration With NSCDC Against Vandalism
The Managing Direc- tor of the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) Plc, has called for collaboration from the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to halt vandalism of electrical equipment within the distribution areas.
The Tide’s source reports that BEDC operation areas include Edo, Delta, Ondo and Ekiti.
Deolu, who made the call on Wednesday during a courtesy visit on the Corps Commandant, Mr Matthew Uboyi, in Benin, also called on the command to help stop the assault being meted on its staff.
Speaking through the company’s Chief Security Officer, retired Lt. Col. David Solomon Aghedo, Deolu said that the visit was a continuation of his familiarisation and interaction with key stakeholders in the company’s network since he assumed office.
“The visit is also to strengthen the mutual relationship that has existed between us and the command over the years”, he said.
Deolu commended the NSCDC personnel for assisting BEDC combat vandals, adding that the rate of vandalism in the network was alarming.
He urged the NSCDC boss to use his good offices to deploy patrol team to monitor BEDC facilities.
Responding, NSCDC Commandant, Matthew Uboyi, commended the managing director for his visit and promised to collaborate with BEDC to fight vandals.
Uboyi assured that the command would work with the BEDC to identify the areas where those illicit acts were being perpetrated with a view to bringing the culprits to book.
