Oshoala, 18 Others To Face Ethiopia For Olympic Qualifier

Barcelona Feminin forward, Asisat Oshoala, Athletico Madrid star, Rasheedat Ajibade, and Paris FC shot-stopper, Chiamaka Nnadozie are among the 19 players who have arrived at the Super Falcons camp in Addis Ababa ahead of the 2024 Olympic qualifier against Ethiopia.
Key players like Toni Oyedupe Payne, Michelle Alozie, Oluwatosin Demehin, Uchenna Kanu, and Gift Monday have also arrived at the team’s camp, while Gotham FC forward, Ifeoma Onumonu was expected in the team’s camp yesterday.
Meanwhile, Halimat Ayinde, Christy Uchiebe, Regina Otu, and Osinachi Ohale are injured and have been ruled out of the qualifier.
Esther Onyenezide has been called up as a replacement for Ayinde.
The Super Falcons had their first training session last night ahead of the game at the Abebe Bekila Stadium in Addis Ababa.
The first leg of the qualifying fixture will kick off at 1:30 p.m. Nigerian time (3:30 p.m. Ethiopian time) today, while both teams will compete at the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja next Tuesday, for the second leg.
The team that emerges victorious on aggregate will progress to face the winner of the qualifying fixture between Cameroon and Uganda to book a place in the final qualification round.
The Super Falcons have failed to qualify for the last three editions of the Olympic Games.
