Abia Warriors’ Job Opportunity To Groom Quality Goalkeepers – Shorunmu
Abia Warriors’ new goalkeepers’ trainer, Ike Shorunmu, has explained that he joined the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) club because of his desire to raise quality goalkeepers for the country.
Shorunmu, who said he would strive to improve Abia Warriors’ goalkeeping department, believes his job for the club would eventually produce quality goalkeepers for the national teams.
Pledging to employ in his new job the experience he garnered in a career that took him from the defunct Stationery Stores of Lagos to some of the best clubs in Europe, Shorunmu told The Guardian on Wednesday that Nigeria has many talented goalkeepers, who could become world class if given the right coaching.
The ex-Super Eagles goalkeeper said: “My appointment as Abia Warriors’ goalkeepers’ trainer will give me opportunity to use my experience to equip the younger generation of keepers. With time, I believe we can train quality goalkeepers for the national teams and the Nigerian league,” he said.
