‘Ajuru Varsity Management Not Involved In Employment Sale’
Some displaced workers of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE) have openly declared that the management of the institution was not involved in employment racketeering as alleged in certain quarters.
In seperate exclusive interviews in Port Harcourt, The Tide gathered from some of the affected workers that the allegation was a surprise to them.
Recall that one of the displaced workers, Dr. Elechi Nwagbara , in an interview granted a Port Harcourt-based Radio Station, said at no time was he, or anyone he knew, “paid any dime for employment slot”.
Nwagbara in the chat said rather they were subjected to rigorous interview sessions from which the successful ones were selected.
According to him, the job went via a normal contract of employment process, hence, he could not “make anything out of the frivolous claim of employment buying”.
Another of his colleagues, Ijeoma Tasie, who spoke to the same Radio Station, said, “I was flabbergasted about the weak claim of employment buying by some of the displaced workers”.
Tasie, who corroborated the stance of Nwagbara on the issue, said a well tailored system of employment process was adopted during the exercise.
“The process was open. I was interviewed normally and made to pass through the whole process. I never paid money to anyone”, she said.
On her part, Chisa Amadi, another displaced worker, who chided those who claimed to have paid money to anyone in the name of employment buying, challenged them to come up with their evidence.
Amadi said in this era of technological advancement, things of such magnatitude can be tracked to their root with little effort.
She also said such people should be arrested and treated as criminals whose real intention may not be far from blaming others for their inadequacies, or cheap blackmail.
“The job was advertised in main stream media. People applied accordingly. At no time did the system say pay money as part of the contract stipulations. So, those who claimed to have paid money are the reason for our ordeal and should not go scot-free”, she stated.
