Court Grants NAPO President, Three Others Bail
The National President of National Association Plant Operators (NAPO ),Harold I Bestowed alongside other three principal members of the union have been admitted to bail by a Port Harcourt chief magistrate court in Rivers State after spending 12 days in Port Harcourt Correctional Centre on the earlier orders of the court .
Other principal officers who were charged alongside the NAPO helmsman on two count charge of conspiracy and economic sabotage others include, John Jumbo, NAPO Bonny branch chairman, Monday Ndimbasi, state chairman, (NAPO), and Christian Onwuamalam, National Trustee of the union
They were arrested on October 12,2022 by the Department of State Services (DSS )and handed over to the operation sting squad ,a unit of the state police command for an alleged of conspiracy and economic sabotage and were arraigned and remanded by the orders of the presiding chief magistrate Amadi Nnah Amadi on a suit NO PMC /RMP /025A/2022 to enable the prosecution conclude its investigation .
However, on the resumption of the case on Monday, the presiding chief magistrate, Amadi Nnah Amadi admitted the accused persons to bail on a liberal term after listening to the prosecution and defendants counsel in the matter.
The presiding chief magistrate while admitting the accused persons to bail mandated them to be diligent in the trial and warned that their bail would be revoke if they failed to appear in court regularly till the determination of the matter.
The defendants counsel ,M M Kalu (Esq ) had earlier prayed the court to grant his clients bail as the offence allegedly committed were bailable which the prosecution counsel led by a superintendent of police (SP) Eniyepere Sikpi did not oppose the bail application.
