300 LG Undergraduates To Get N50,000 Education Grant

In furtherance of his administration’s support in the education sector, the Chairman of Degema Local Government, Hon. Michael John Williams, has kick-started the process for the payment of 50,000,00 grant as educational support to undergraduates of the local government.
The beneficiaries, who are expected to be 17 per ward, would be evenly distributed across the 17 political wards of the local government, with an additional provision for Ward 17, which comprises two communities of Ke and Ogurama, making it a total of 306 beneficiaries.
Inaugurating the Local Government Educational Grant for Undergraduates 2022 Committee’ at the council secretariat, the council chairman emphasised that the exercise should be done in a manner that would be devoid of partiality, favouritism and political coloration.
While stressing that his administration would not tolerate cases of bias, sentiment or inducements, the council boss said students who fulfill the eligibility requirements should be considered without any prejudice.
Speaking on behalf of the committee, the Supervisor for Education, Hon. Garrick Ibima First bury, thanked the council chairman for the confidence reposed on them, assuring that his team would be meticulous and diligent in the discharge of their duty.
According to their terms of reference, eligibility requirements for prospective beneficiaries include Permanent Voter Card (PVC) for students above 18 years; Local Government Identification letter; admission Letter, School Fees Receipt; School Identity Card; Birth Certificate/Age Declaration; and Attestation Letter from a recognised compound chief.
Other members of the committee are Dr. Sokari Ibifuro Francis; Dr. Tamunosaki Taylor; Mrs. Vivian Harry; and Comr. Damiete Lawson.
