Community Resolves Chieftaincy Crisis
The people of Adanta village of Isiokpo in Ikwerre Local Government Area, have finally resolved their chieftaincy crisis following the admission into the Oha Adanta of Chief Dennis Amadi.
The Tide learnt that following the death of Chief Egbule Alikor, 20 years ago, there were claims and counter-claims to the Adanta throne by various families in the community, which was later resolved by the Oha Isiokpo.
Speaking to The Tide during the installation ceremony, Prof Benjamin Achor Amadi said the ceremony signalled the return of peace to Adanta village, Isiokpo.
“For us, it is a great day as our father today is a member of Oha Adanta village, Isiokpo Community.
“He is installed today as the Oha, but in due course he will be installed in Oha Isiokpo, then, when that is done, he will now become the head of Adanta Community and Ebereonwu III,” he said.
Prof. Benjamin also said the ceremony has brought unity and oneness to the ancient Adanta village.
He urged the new Oha Adanta to reach out to every segment of the community, stressing that the time to build on the peace of the community has come.
Also speaking, the first son of the new Oha Adanta, Sam Ichechi Amadi, said the family and by extension the community was happy over the new development.
He said the ceremony had marked the beginning of a new era in Adanta, noting that from now on, development would flourish in the community .
Also speaking, Chief Prince Chianu Chinda, urged the new Oha to see his position as that of sacrifice, stressing that time had come for the people to imbibe the virtues of sacrifice and compromise.
He described the presentation of a Bible to the Oha by the community as symbolic, adding that the leadership of Adanta should put God first in everything.
Chinda also confirmed during an interview that the ceremony became possible following the resolution of the matter by the Oha Isiokpo.
In his exhortation Apostle Joel Alozie, charged the new Oha to ensure equity and justice in the community .
According to him,”the throne should be impartial in the dispensation of justice”.
He also charged the people to give their full support to the Oha.
The new Oha Adanta, Chief Dennis N Amadi, in an interview said he would unify the community, calling for support.
It would be recalled that Chief Dennis N Amadi, who is over 80 years old is one of the Apostle Generals of the internal sacred Order of Cherubim and Seraphim (ESOC) church.
