The Rivers State Government has said that it would continue to work closely with the church as partners in progress.
The state Deputy Governor, Dr Ipalibo Harry Banigo, stated this during the opening ceremony of the 2nd Session of the 24th Synod of Niger Delta Diocese, Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion at St. Cyprian’s Church, Hospital Road in Port Harcourt, last Friday.
Banigo said Governor Nyesom Wike-led administration was synonymous with thanksgiving to God, which according to her,was their second name, adding that all through their tenure, they would continue to give thanks to God.
“We give Him thanks, for the good times, we give Him thanks for the trying times, we give Him thanks for everything because, His promises are, Ye and Amen, so we hold on to His promises. Joshua 1: says, the book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth, but thou shall meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein, for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success”, Banigo stressed.
The deputy governor commended the leadership role of the diocesan since the time of his enthronement, noting that the bishop has been very loving and cares for his members, and the government.
“We know we are in good hands and covet your prayers and it is your prayers that has been holding us up and this government, through all the ups and downs, through all the trials, we have seen the Lord manifest His power, and manifest the answers to prayers of the righteous because, he has been praying for us”, Banigo quipped.
Also speaking on the Theme: “A Grateful Heart” drawn from Luke 17: 16-17, Bishop of Niger Delta Diocese, Rt. Rev. Ralph Ebirien, expressed gratitude to Wike and his deputy for their support to the Niger Delta Diocese.
