Pillars, Others Impressive At Prudent Energy Handball Tourney
Kano Pillars, Benue Buffaloes, Confluence Stars, Rima Queens and Safety Babes all recorded victories in their opening fixtures at the ongoing Prudent Energy Handball Premier League Phase One holding at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
In the first game played in the men’s category, Buffaloes overwhelmed Seasider Boys 29 to 22, while defending champions, Kano Pillars, beat a hapless Police Machine by 29 to 15 points, just as Confluence Stars thumped Tojemarine 37 to 27 points.
Women’s current titleholder, Safety Babes, also got to a winning start, as they outmuscled Seasiders Babes 37 to 26 points, while Rima Queens humbled Bendel Dynamos 31 to 29 points in a close challenge.
The Day Two fixtures will see losers of the first game, Tojemarine Academy and Police Machine trade tackles in the opening match in the men’s cadre, while Benue Buffaloes will be hoping to consolidate their stand on the table as they clash with Niger United, as Lagos Seasiders will try their might against Rima Strikers.
In the other fixtures, Kada Stars will trade tackles with Safety Shooters, while Confluence Stars have a date with D:Defenders.
In the women’s class, Plateau Peacocks will clash with Rima Queens, Defender Babes will meet Imo Grasshoppers with Edo Dynamos battling with Seasider Babes.
In other games, Kada Queens will confront former champions, Adorable Angels, while Benue Queens will challenge defending champions, Safety Babes.
