Cocoa Farmers To Unveil Good Practice Handbook,’ Morrow

To enhance productivity of members and boost contribution of cocoa to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the agricultural sector, the Cocoa Farmers Association of Nigeria (CFAN) has disclosed that it will unveil good agricultural practice handbook tomorrow.
President of the association, Adeola Adegoke, who disclosed this, said there would be unveiling of the communique of a cocoa summit held in November and December 2021 in Abuja.
The Association, he stated further, would also open its new secretariat at POW Mafemi Crescent, Utako, Abuja.
“There will be launching of Good Agronomic Practices (GAP) training handbook for the Nigerian smallholder cocoa farmers and the commencement of the implementation of international acceptable regulations on child labour eradication, traceability, certification, afforestation/cocoa plantation management and the protection of our bio-diversity in the cocoa plantation”, he said.
Adegoke continued that the Association would set up a national task force on control and enforcement on cocoa quality, child labour, GAP, traceability, data gathering and protection of the ecosystem among smallholder cocoa farmers in the cocoa-producing states, cocoa plantations and cocoa communities.
