S’East Leaders Rally Support For Anyim
Some leaders of the South-East geopolitical zone have rallied support for Senator Anyim Pius Anyim’s presidential aspiration in the 2023 general elections.
Former President of the Senate, Chief AdolphusWabara, and some political leaders in the South-East recently expressed their support for Anyim.
The leaders are of the view that the Nigeria’s former number three citizen is most suited for the nation’s top job in terms of leadership experience, national stature, nationwide acceptability, age, maturity, comportment and capacity to manage the country and her economy.
Speaking at a grand reception and conferment of Chieftaincy title of “MaduforoNdeNgwa” on the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, by the traditional council of Ngwa zone, in Abia State, Senator Wabara called on the Nigerian electorates, particularly the people of the South-East zone, to rally round Senator Anyim in his quest to clinch the ticket of his party at the primary and contest and win the presidency of Nigeria.
Wabara said Anyim has distinguished himself in his previous civil service career and political positions as the President of the Senate and as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), hence, he would be a fit and proper person to pilot the affairs of Nigeria at this crucial moment of our country’s life.
The former Senate President added that the presidential aspirant was a dependable leader and a team player whose commitment to the unity of the country, rule of law and national equity was public knowledge.
He noted that those who have worked closely with Anyim could easily attest to his ever pan-Nigerian disposition and his uncommon courage in the pursuit of true democracy, good governance and commitment to the greatness of Nigeria.
Other leaders of the South-East zone and eminent political leaders outside Igboland who were guests at the occasion and who spoke at the event, unanimously endorsed Anyim as the hope for Nigeria in 2023.
On his part, Senator EnyinnayaAbaribe, said it was gratifying that Anyim had declared his interest for the presidency when it appeared no one was stepping out for a challenge. Abaribe urged Nigerians and leaders from all the geo-political zones in the country to invest their trust and support for Senator Anyim.
In his speech at the occasion, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, commended Senator EnyinnayaAbaribe for his illustrious service to his people which necessitated the chieftaincy title of “MaduforoNdeNgwa” by the traditional council in his zone.
He stated that what was needed in the country were leaders that would work for the interest of the people and inspire great hope; leaders who will understand the needs of the people and empathise with them in their problems by finding a lasting mitigation to those challenges.

Don’t Risk Your Legacy, Citizen Begs Jonathan Against 2027 Presidential Race
In a letter titled, “An Open Letter to Former President Goodluck Jonathan,” the observer said Dr Jonathan should be careful not to allow himself to be drawn into partisan calculations driven by ambition rather than national interest.
He cautioned the former president against allowing himself to be used by what he described as desperate political interests.
“I believe this is the time to protect the good name and legacy you have built over the years. You should not allow yourself to be used by desperate political elements who may be more interested in their own ambitions than in the future of Nigeria,” the letter read.
The Social Commentator further warned Dr Jonathan to be wary of those advocating for his comeback, claiming many of them were previously opposed to his administration.
“Many of those calling for your return today were your antagonists, those who frustrated your government back then. You should be careful not to become a pawn in a game designed by others or else they will stain your white with their ‘roforofo’,” he said.
He maintained that Dr Jonathan’s legacy remains defined by his decision to concede defeat in 2015, which he described as a landmark moment in Nigeria’s democratic history.
“Your legacy was built through years of public service and your decision to put the country’s peace above personal ambition at a critical moment in Nigeria’s history. That legacy should not be put at risk because of the desperation of a few politicians,” he added.
Mr Adenuga also alleged that some of the promoters of Dr Jonathan’s return have lost credibility in the public space.
“The truth is that some of the people pushing you to contest have already damaged their own reputations. They should not be allowed to stain your legacy with their soiled hands. What they could not achieve on their own should not be pursued through your name and goodwill,” he stressed.
He concluded by urging the former president to remain above political manoeuvring and protect his place in history.
“History has been kind to you. Preserve that honour and remain above the political games of those who want to use your name for their own purposes,” he wrote.
Recall that former President Goodluck Jonathan recently emerged as the presidential candidate of the Kabiru Turaki-led Interim National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) following a special convention held in Abuja, where delegates ratified his nomination ahead of the 2027 general elections.
