‘No Compromise In Protecting Lives, Property’
The Inspector General of Police, Special Tactical Squad Commander, Rivers State Command, DSP Lawal Hamisu, has said that its constitutional mandate of protecting lives and property can not be compromised.
Hamisu made this known when he received an Award of Excellence by Wheel of Fortune Foundation and Guild of Online Publishers in Port Harcourt last Saturday.
He commended the Inspector General of Police and Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Mr Friday Eboka, for providing the enabling environment and reform the force had witnessed since his assumption of office.
According to him, the community policing, invented by the IG, had produced tremendous results in the council and urged collective efforts with the police in crime fighting.
The police officer also thanked the IG and Rivers CP for the opportunity to serve in the capacity he had got since joining the force.
Meanwhile, he has reassured of the police readiness to do its best in the service to the motherland.
“The award is coming at a time the police and other security agencies are facing a herculean task. I thank the people for the award,” he said.
Earlier, the leader of the group, Bamidele Aliogo, said the Wheel of Fortune Foundation and Guild of Online Publishers Association singled out the officer as the best performing officer, based on his track records.
She pointed out that the aim of the award was to encourage those who contributed in no little way towards the peace enjoyed in the country.
The group Head, also added that the award was in collaboration with UNICEF and USAID and urged other officers to emulate the awardee.
