Edo 2020: Enugu Plans Three-Month Camping For Athletes
The Enugu State Ministry for Youths and Sports has said the state’s athletes would be camped three months ahead of their participation in the 2020 National Sports Festival (NSF) billed for March in Edo.
The ministry’s Spokesman, Dan Onwuegbuna, made this known to newsmen in Enugu yesterday.
Onwuegbuna quoted the ministry’s Commissioner, Vitus Okechi, as giving the assurance to the coaches in his office.
According to Okechi, the state’s athletes will be camped three months before Edo 2020 National Sports Festival begins to enable the athletes prepare adequately.
“We are going to camp the athletes at the Enugu Sports Council to enhance their training and inculcate the camping spirit in them.
“In all of these, the athletes’ welfare will be paramount and we have to do it for the sake of wining laurels at the festival,” Okechi said.
Okechi assured the coaches that all indoor games would henceforth take place inside the Indoor Sports Hall of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium instead of outside the hall currently used by the state’s basketball players.
