FRSC’s Mobile Court Convicts 45 Motorists In Anambra
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Mobile Court in Anambra has convicted no fewer than 45 motorists for 138 traffic offences in the state.
Anambra Sector Commander of the FRSC, Mr Andrew Kumapayi, disclosed this in an interview with newsmen in Awka yesterday.
Kumapayi said that a total of 51 offenders were arrested during the mobile court operation which held in February.
He said that six of those tried were discharged and encouraged to continue to ensure that their vehicles were in good condition at all times.
The sector commander said that some of the offences include, tyre violation, overloading, speeding, non use of seatbelt and failure to install Speed Limit device, which was accounted for 31 offenders.
“In February we held a Mobile Court session where 51 motorists were tried, 45 of them were convicted and six were discharged and acquitted of any offences.
“They were tried for a total of 138 traffic offences and the most prevalent was failure to install Speed Limiting Device,” he said.
Kumapayi said the FRSC in Anambra would continue to maintain visibility on the road, engage in advocacy and carryout enforcement to ensure motorists complied strictly with traffic rules.
