Abia Varsity To Replicate Oxford Research Model – Wabara
The Pro-Chancellor of Abia State University (ABSU), Adolphus Wabara says the university will soon come up with research programmes that will be modelled after the prestigious Oxford University.
Wabara stated this when he visited the Oxford University in the United Kingdom recently, stressing that ABSU would soon commence moves to attract research grants and funding from European, American and other international institutions such as the Commonwealth, the United Nations (UN) and other partners.
The former Senate President averred that talented students of the university would provide vocational trainings so as to create employment opportunities for them after graduation.
“I enjoyed my experience at the Oxford University and learnt a lot about cutting-edge research grant process and procedures. I am delighted to be signing a memorandum of understanding with excellence in education, which will open up greater opportunities for capacity building and collaborative research at ABSU”,
“It was a delight to meet leaders of Commonwealth who are keen to support Abia State University in research, capacity building and ICT”, he stated.
He further disclosed that he had an extensive discussion on if ABSU can partake in the range of technological, educational, economic and scientific activities including but not limited to capacity building in generating external income through research and consultancy.
“Knowledge transfer activities that will accelerate the development of ABSU, Nigeria untill Abia State University becomes the centre of academic excellence in Africa.
