Police Parade 200 Suspected Criminals In Rivers …As CP Visits Oduoha
The Rivers State Police Command has paraded over 200 criminal suspects for their alleged involvement in various criminal activities in the state.
Also paraded are over 60 alleged cultists who were arrested for reportedly terrorising the inhabitants of Omerelu, Isiokpo, Oduoha and Umudioga communities in Ikwerre and Emohua local government areas of the state in the last couple of weeks.
Parading the suspects last Saturday at the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) operational headquarters at Rukpokwu, Obio/Akpor LGA of the state, the Commissioner of Police, Zaki Mohammed Ahmed said the police were able to arrest the suspects due to the support received from the public through information sharing and dissemination.
Ahmed averred that the command’s tactical units in Egbeda and Omerelu raided various criminal flash-points as well as rescued kidnapped victims, adding that the scorecard of the command’s achievements covered the mouth of May, 2017, till date.
He disclosed that 10 armed robbers, 60 kidnappers and 130 cultists were arrested while 4 AK47 riffles, 5 English pistols, 1 pump action gun, 20 local made pistols, 10 Magazine, 300 live catriges and 152 ammunition as well as 5 vehicles were also recovered.
According to him, the command also released a 28-old woman abducted and gang-raped to stupor by a three-man kidnap syndicate, adding that the woman was recuperating in an undisclosed hospital in Port Harcourt.
The state commissioner of police assured that the command was winning the war against cultism, kidnapping, armed robbery and other anti-social vices in the state.
He used the opportunity to call for public support with the police, especially in the areas of information gathering, and assured that the identity of the informants would be protected and preserved.
Meanwhile, the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Zaki Mohammed Ahmed has assured the people of Oduoha community in Emohua LGA and other communities in the state being revenged by cult-related attacks that the police would restore peace in the affected communities across the state, and also ensure that the cultists and their sponsors are arrested and prosecuted.
The state police helmsman stated this when he paid a visit to Oduoha community, last Saturday, to ascertain the negative impact of cult-related clashes in the community.
