Land Dispute: Community Advises Monarch On Court Order
The Paramount Ruler of Iriebe community in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, Eze Mike Eleto has been urged to stop disrespecting count order on the land dispute involving his community, Rumuokwurusi, Ikwerrengwo and Atali communities.
The Eze Nvike I of Okwurusi, Benneth Worgu said that a court order with suit No PHC/2456/2016 had restrained the people of Iriebe and one Nkemakolam Nwamuo of Umuotube Community to desist from further encroachment on lands belonging to Rumuokwurusi, Atali and Ikwerrengwo communities.
Eze Worgu said that the continuous encroachment on the land by the Iriebe community was the highest level of disrespect to constituted authorities, stressing that, the court had ordered all parties to stop all activities until the determination of the case.
The Rumuokwurusi monarch stressed the need for the state government and security agencies to call the Iriebe monarch to order with a view to avoiding communal conflicts in the area.
Eze Worgu, who spoke on behalf of the three communities, however, said that the people of Rumuokwurusi, Atali and Ikwerrengwo will continue to remain peaceful and law- abiding inspite of the obvious threats to their land by their Iriebe neighbours.
However, when contacted, Eze Eleto admitted that there was a court order on the said land but declined further comments.
Eze Eleto told The Tide reporter in his house in Iriebe that, he had nothing contrary to the position of Rumuokwurusi and the other communities.
