Storekeeper Remanded For Stealing

A 34-year-old
storekeeper, Babalola Samuel was on Tuesday remanded at Olokuta Prison by an Akure Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged theft of goods valued at N2.7 million.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Sunday Adedapo, ordered the remand of Samuel in prison custody till July 30, for ruling on his bail application.
The accused of no fixed address, pleaded not guilty to the one-court charge of stealing.
The prosecutor, ASP Pelumi Adejuwon, told the court that the accused stole 10 cartons of cigarettes, 90 cartons of matches and 10 cantons of rolling paper.
Adejuwon also listed other items as 10 cartons of Raymond tea yellow, 60 cartons of Jack rum and a cash sum of N50, 000, all belonging to Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG).
The prosecutor said that the accused committed the offence between April 1, 2014 and Jan. 1, 2015 at various times at No. 2A Femi Alewi St., Akure, Ondo State.
He said that the offence was contrary to Section 383 and punishable under Section 390 (9) of the Criminals Code Cap 37 Vol.1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
