Monarch Commends Military For Ensuring Peace In N’Delta
Chairman of Rivers
State Council of Traditional Rulers, King Godwin Gininwa has commended the military in Nigeria for their tireless efforts in combating militancy that has brought about the fragile peace in the Niger Delta region.
King Gininwa made the commendation when Student Officers of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College Jaji paid him a courtesy call in Port Harcourt recently.
The Monarch who is also the Gbenemene of Tai Kingdom in Rivers State maintained that the cooperation given by the military to traditional rulers in the different communities had helped in no small measure in checking the activities of miscreants in the rural area.
According to King Gininwa, “traditional rulers in Rivers State will continue to co-operate with the military whenever you need our assistance because without peace there would be no meaningful development in our communities.”
Earlier, the Director of Department of Land Warfare, Armed Forces Command and Staff College Jaji, Brigadier General Gbolahan Oyefesobi who led the delegation told the traditional ruler and members of his council that the officers were in Rivers State as part of their training to acquaint them with the environment and culture of the people.
He assured the traditional rulers that the military will continue to discharge its primary function of protecting the territorial integrity of Nigeria and thanked the monarch and members of his council for their hospitality.
