Danagogo To Consolidate On Predecessors’ Achievements
The new Minister of
Sports, Mr Tamuno Danagogo, has in Abuja pledged to consolidate on the achievements of his predecessors.
Danagogo said this shortly after the Director-General of the National Sports Commission, Mr Gbenga Elegbeleye, took him round the facility in the Abuja National Stadium.
“My predecessor and the D-G (Director-General), have been doing a very good work.
“I will do everything to consolidate on what they are doing and ensure that the gains are strengthened.
“I am not going to be a minister of football. That is not to say that I am not going to be very serious about football.
“I want to be a minister of sports that will look not only at football but look at every other possible aspect of sports.
“But we will also continue to give very serious attention to football.
“Of course, this is World Cup year and our attention on the world cup and football in general will not be reduced.
“But at the same time, the plan is to ensure that we pay attention to other sporting activities.’’
The former Rivers State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism added that his door would be open to accommodate ideas from stakeholders.
