Coach Urges NPFLStakeholders Meeting
A former Head Coach, Sunshine Stars FC of Akure, Samuel Abimbola, has urged the League Management Company (LMC) to convene a stakeholder’s meeting of the Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL to chart a way forward for the competition.
Abimbola told newsmen yesterday in Lagos that such a meeting was necessary before the second stanza of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) commenced.
NAN reports that the Globacom Premier League began a two-week break after the Week 19 fixtures on June 16.
The former coach added that the league needed to improve on the achievements of the first stanza.
“They should organise a seminar— where they will talk to players, club managers and match officials.
“There is need for them to advise club managers on how to improve the welfare of players as many of them play on empty stomach and need motivation to give their best.
“The LMC should consolidate on the achievements of the first stanza. They are doing well so far; they should not relent.
“They should also put in place a check and balance system that is not biased to evaluate them from time to time, so that they can work on areas in which they are lagging behind,’’ Abimbola said.
The second stanza of the league kicks off on July 2.
