Academy Set To Hold Free Tennis Clinic
A Port Harcourt based tennis promotion outfit says it has concluded plans to orgnaise a free tennis clinic for school children during the Easter holiday, in the state.
The Director of Kodian Academy, Mrs. Stella Epegu disclosed this during an interview with sports journalists in Port Harcourt recently.
Mrs Epegu said that during Easter holidays the academy would pick physically fit players from the 23 Local Government areas in the state, and adequately prepare them for the free tennis tournament.
According to her, the years catch them young free tennis programme would not only be for children in Port Harcourt but across the state as the aim is to discover future champions, adding that the academy has been commenced discussions with school headmasters and principals for the exercise.
She further said that the trainees would be kitted with free tennis canvas and rackets, and lauded Total E and P for accepting to sponsor the tournament which is expected to kick-off on April 1st through 10 at Port Harcourt Club Tennis Court.
She said that with the cooperation of Rivers State Tennis Association, the Academy would discover more players in addition to the ones already discovered.
She also explained that Kodia Sports Academy is registered foundation with Chief Ikenna Okafor as its board chairman would ensure that the children were exposed to tournaments within Nigeria and outside the country annually.
It would be recalled that players of Kodian Sports Academy gave Rivers State seven gold, five silver and three bronze medals during the recent National School Sports Festival in Port Harcourt.
