NOA, NAFDAC Partner To Fight Fake Products
The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has expressed readiness to partner with the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) in its fight against fake products.
Director-General of NOA, Mr Mike Omeri, made this known in Abuja yesterday when he visited the Director-General of NAFDAC, Dr Paul Orhii in his office.
Omeri said that the agency would mount a sustained grassroots public enlightenment campaign against illegal importation, local production and distribution of fake products.
The NOA boss said that safeguarding the health of Nigerians was the responsibility of all citizens, adding that the war against counterfeiters was a collective one.
He advised members of the public to always look out for NAFDAC registration number before buying any product, adding that this would go a long way in checking the influx of fake products into the country.
“On the part of the citizens doing the right thing means before you buy any product, ensure that it carries NAFDAC registration number.
“Check product expiring date and also report activities of counterfeiters in the country.
“The manufacturers should do the right thing too, by making sure that what they are producing is genuine and safe,” Omeri said.
Responding, Orhii expressed joy over the collaboration, adding that would intensify the fight against fake products, especially at the grassroots.
“We need to pull our resources and work together to move this country forward.
“NAFDAC will work with NOA to ensure that Nigerians do the right thing to safeguard their health,” Orhii said.
