RSG Rehabilitates PH Road
Rivers State Commissioner for Works, Hon. Victor Giadom has said his ministry has started on massive road rehabilitation programme in Port Harcourt metropolis.
Speaking to newsmen in his office, Hon. Giadom hinted that the programme is targeted at ensuring that various pot holes on Port Harcourt roads are filled during the period, stating that the delay in covering the pot holes was caused by the rains which lingered up till October.
He expressed optimism that the aim of this programme would be realised before the next rainy season, adding that the terrain of the state has contributed to high cost of road construction.
The Ministry of Works boss said that the poor terrain has made it imperative for the ministry to apply the world best practices on road construction, disclosing that he instructed on the use of sharp sand instead of laterite as foundation for road stone base to guarantee durability.
He noted that this process is expensive but that it would enhance the realisation of the Governor’s transformation agenda and provide value for money spent on road construction in the state.
