RSG Restates Commitment To Industrial Peace
The Rivers State Government have stated its determination to
partner with the workforce in ensuring a peaceful and industrial-friendly
environment
Secretary to the State Government, Mr. George Feyii, said
this in Port Harcourt recently while inaugurating a 10-man committee to address
the grievances of the Rivers State Council of the Medical and Health Workers’
Union of Nigeria (MHWUN) over the non-implementation of their approved
remuneration by the various Local Government Council, extra-Ministerial
Departments and Agencies in the state
Represented by the
Permanent Secretary in-charge of Special Service Bureau in his Office, Mr Sovens A. Okari, Mr Feyii assured
that government will do everything possible to ensure that the workforce
continued to play its role as the engine room of government in achieving the
overall developmental objective.
While appealing to members of the committee to fast-track
their assignment and come up with a report within two weeks, he seized the
opportunity to called on the organised labour to always consort with government
in positive ways that would impact on the lives of the people.
The Chairman of the committee, Sir Augustus Fubara, thanked
the Secretary to the State Government for the opportunity given them to address the issues affecting the health
works and assured of their commitment to deliver on the assignment promptly.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
