Ministry Graduates 79 Info-Tech Trainees
A total of 79 trainees graduated in various skills at the Ministry of Women Affairs Information and Communication technology Empowerment Scheme, held at the Ministry’s auditorium along Eastern By-pass in Port Harcourt, last Friday.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Head of Service, Rivers State, Mrs. Esther Anucha enjoined the graduands to be good ambassadors of the ministry by utilising the knowledge they have acquired and commended the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs Joeba West for the initiative.
Mrs Anucha, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Welfare Service in the Ministry, Mr. Lambert Ekwueme said many civil servants in the state were not computer literate adding that as they have been certified competent, they should be dedicated, punctual, loyal and relevant in their fields of specialisation.
In her speech, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs Joeba West stressed the need for computer literacy in the present global world and also said the trainees should count themselves privileged to have basic knowledge of Information Communication Technology.
The commissioner noted that the Empowerment Support Initiative (ESI) of Her Excellency, Mrs Judith Amaechi was also involved in several training programmes to complement government efforts and also to alleviate the suffering of the people, and assured that the ministry would continue to support the laudable efforts of the government and urged the beneficiaries to continue to apply the knowledge acquired for self-actualisation and develop the state.
Earlier, the Director of Administration in the ministry, pastor Innocent Anyanwu lauded the Commissioner for accepting to continue the training programe, saying “some leaders do not like to continue with programmes started by their predecessors irrespective of its importance to the society”.
In their separate response, the best Behaved student, Mrs. Beatrice Patrick and the best Graduating Student, Mr. Christopher Trust thanked the Ministry for the opportunity and called for an improved exercise in the next batch.
