Onne Customs Targets N10bn Monthly
The Nigeria Customs Services (NCS), Onne Port Command, Rivers State realised over N15 billion within the first quarter of the year 2012.
The Conptroller of the command, Mr Richard Oteri a deputy comptroller dropped this hint when members of the Maritime and Energy Media Practitioners (MEMP) Nigeria paid him a courtesy call in his office at Onne on Wednesday.
Oteri said his target of N10 billion monthly, would be realised hopefully from May this year, with his committed and dedicated officers as importers are still awating the budget from the federal government.
The Onne customs boss, who gave the breakdown of the amount said the command realized over N4 billion in January, N5.7 billion in February and in March, N6.6 billion, adding that the year is just beginning.
He assured that the command would partner MEMP for better understanding and reportage, enjoining Journalists not to take undue advantage of their profession but regard objectivity as their watch word.
The controller commended the press in Rivers State for their peaceful manner and co-operation, describing them as quite civilized and urged them to keep up the spirit.
According to him, his administration operates an open door policy and that ideas that would help improve the revenue base and the job would be welcomed.
Deputy comptroller Oteri, who also stressed the importance of the press said there is absolute need to partner with them and lauded MEMP for their vision, assuring them of their support to make the organisation grow.
Earlier, the president of MEMP Nigeria, Bishop Ralph John said they were in his office to familiarize themselves with the command and make inputs where necessary, and assured that the body would to partner with the command to attain its target.
Bishop John, who highlighted the policies of the organization thanked the Deputy Comptroller for his warm reception and further appealed for co-operation.
Deputy Comptroller Oteri, who was transferred from Oyo/Osun Comman is the 21st on the list of Area Commanders in Onne Port Command.
