Gokana Budgets N2.10bn For 2012
The Gokana Local Government Council, has budgeted the sum of N2,991,480,005 for the 2012 fiscal year.
The Council Chairman, Hon. Deemua Ledee Deemua who said this at Kpor the Council headquarters last Monday, said that the budget tagged: “Budget of Commitment” focuses on the need to consolidate the progress made so far in the delivery of democracy dividends to the people through the provision of infrastructural facilities and economic empowerment for wealth creation.
Hon. Deemua said that, the trust of this year’s budget is to stimulate social and economic growth of the area via programmes/activities anchored on infrastructural development, electricity distribution, Agricultural development and provision of security.
Accordingly, the Gokana council boss said that capital expenditure will gulp the sum of N1,359,440,487.95 while recurrent expenditure will take N1,632,039,517.87.
He said that the high expectation of the people has underscored the need for all arms of the council to be committed in the discharge of their duties.
“We must remain committed towards a sustainable development of the Local Government Area via the provision of social services/infrastructures that will improve the living standard of our people”, he said.
In his response, the Leader of the Gokana Local Government Legislative Assembly, Hon. Sylvester Vidin commended the Chairman for his programme so for and assured of the early passage of the budget.
