The Director General of the Agency, Mr. Ziakede Patrick Akpobolokemi, who approved the detention of the vessel after receiving security reports from officials of the Agency Maritime Guard Command, said such ugly trends had been given the body great concern.
Mr. Akpobolokemi said Nigeria has a high record of illegal bunkering, and that they are battle ready in line with their mandate to stop there nefarious activities on Nigerian waters.
According to him, Government should take action now to stop this economic sabotage, adding that what is being siphoned out illegally is enough to sustain and put smiles on the faces of every Nigerian.
He disclosed that the management of NIMASA would leave no stone unturned to ensure that all illegal activities like piracy, oil bunkering and other nefarious activities on our waters are stopped forthwith.
The NIMASA boss called for all hands to be on deck to fight against this cankerworm being carried out by enemies of this country.
“This economic sabotage on our waters is being encouraged by Nigerians as nobody comes into our waters without the collaboration with Nigerians”, he said.
