Sports Marketing Firm Plans To Honour Journalists

Sports marketing firm, Hally Sports International Ltd, has disclosed plans to honour sports media practioners with an Award Night, according to the company’s Managing Director, Godwin-Spiff Sagbama.

Sagbama said the award, the first of its kind in the country, is aimed at rewarding sports journalists as they are the least recognised although they are the most vocal and visible in Nigeria.

He said in a statement that the proposed award which would be made at a date and venue yet to be named, would be broken into two categories for the print and electronics media.

He said the print media would be further spilt into daily sports papers on one hand and regular newspapers with sports pages on the other and magazines while the electronics would be categorised into TV/Radio and Online Sports publication.

Awards will include Sports Editor of the year, Sports Writer of the year, Sports Reporter of the year, Sports Presenter of the Year, Sports Producer of the year, Sports Media of the year and Best Sports Programme of the year (Radio/TV).

Other awards will go to the Best Sports Analyst of the year, Best Sports Article of the year, Best Sports Commentator of the year, Best Sports Publisher of the year, Best Sports Marketer of the year, Best Sports deal of the year and Most Innovative Sports Programme of the year.

He said his company planned to carry out the awards in collaboration with its event partners from Germany and South Africa.

Sagbama noted that: “Except we celebrate ourselves in the Sports Media Industry, no body will do. Most of my colleagues have given so much that they need to be celebrated.
