The newly crowned  Emodi I of Umuobe in Obrikom community in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, Chief George Ogarbe, has expressed dissatisfaction over the Community development policies of Nigeria Agip Oil Company (NAOC) operating in Obrikom.

The monarch made the declaration shortly after his coronation by the Ochi Oha of Obrikom Community, Chief Christian Uzor at Obrikom recently.

The monarch said Obrikom as a principal host to the strategic operations of the Italian oil company was yet to feel the optimal impact of the company in terms of human empowerment and infrastructural development.

According to the monarch, no Obrikom indigene was a management staff of Agip, despite the number of qualified graduates in the community.

He regretted the company’s attitude of employing outsiders rather than giving available opportunities to Obrikom indigenes.

He called on Agip to borrow a leaf from other multi-national companies and improve its corporate social responsibilities towards its host communities.

The royal father who was a former Obrikom Youth leader and Community Development Committee secretary, thanked the people of Obrikom for giving him the opportunity to serve them as a traditional ruler.

He assured that he would be tolerant, objective and consultative in carrying out his activities as a traditional ruler.
