Movement for he Actualisation of South-South Presidency (MASSPRES) says it will launch its GOOD LUCK NIGERIA PROJECT in Port Harcourt on July 6, 2010. the event which will take place at the Port Harcourt Civic Centre auditorium is part of a South-South week planned by the body.
National Chairman of MASSPRE, Comrade Afiesimama Sokari, who stated this in an exclusive interview in Port Harcourt at the weekend said the Goodluck Nigeria Project was aimed at ensuring that President Goodluck Jonathan contests and wins the 2011 Presidential election.
Sokari explained that MASSPRE was divinely inspired in 2006 and the progress of President Goodluck Jonathan on the nation’s political scene confirms that he is the South-South President God wants to use to consolidate Nigeria’s unity.
The MASSPRE National Chairman said the Goodluck Nigeria programme will be marked with a two million men inter-religious fasting and prayer session by which Christians and Muslims will seek divine support for the project.
Already, the movement is networking with South-South indigenes in the diaspora and Nigerians in the five geo-political zones of the country as well as the South-South people in other geo-political zones to mobilise support for the success of the project.
According to Sokari, the opening, ceremony of the South-South week, scheduled for July 5, will feature a symposium while the final day of the three-day event will featuee a special thanksgiving and a black gold prestigious award. He said MASSPRE has commenced its membership drive and lobby for partnership with other geo-political zones while a fund-raising dinner for the Good Luck Nigeria will be part of the event.
MASSPRE is also undertaking a one-man-one-vote sensitization campaign across local governments and states of the country. Sokari however called on all South-South peoples, the entire Niger Delta Region and governors of the states of the region in particular, to support the Good Luck Nigeria Project.
Also speaking, the South-South Co-ordinator of MASSPRE, Col. G.P. Okiki (Rtd.) said the movement was committed to enlisting President Jonathan to contest the 2011 election because God is already using him to unite Nigeria.
He therefore advised Nigerians to support the project to enable it succeed because, according to him, “Jonathan will not disappoint Nigerians because he has the fear of God”.

LP Crisis: Ex-NWC Member Dumps Dumps Abure Faction
Mr Ojukwu, who recently returned to the interim National Working Committee led by Senator Esther Nenadi Usman, noted that the party had 34 elected members in the House of Representatives, eight Senators, and 80 members at the state Houses of Assembly after the 2023 general elections.
“Now we lost all of them,” he said. “I don’t think we have as many as five members in the National Assembly.”
The former national officer of the LP talked to journalists in Abuja and said he chose to join the caretaker committee led by Senator Nenadi-Usman because they are now the officially recognized leaders of the Party.
“I chose to work with the caretaker committee to help save the Labour Party, for the benefit of the party. I also want to use this chance to ask my colleagues at the national, state, and local government levels to come together and help rebuild our party.
“Another election is around the corner. We lost everything we have. They have left to other political parties. So I’ll reach out to all my friends in the other group to get together and work on making this party stronger again.
“The caretaker committee has formed a reconciliation committee. Let’s come together and talk so that we can restore the first opposition political party in Nigeria.”
Mr Ojukwu, who was part of the Julius Abure’s group, said there are no more factions in the LP.
He added, “There is a court ruling, and since it is valid, the right people are in the correct positions.”
He urged Barr Abure and others to drop the legal cases they have filed because they are not helping the party.
“Litigations are killing political parties”, he said. “They’ve seen many political parties disappear because of legal battles, and the Labor Party is losing support every day, which makes me feel sad.”
Mr Ojukwu said he did not think joining the Senator Nenadi-Usman’s NWC was a betrayal of the Abure group, describing himself as “the oxygen” of that faction.
“I’m with this group because of the verdict. But I never betrayed anybody. Rather, I was betrayed,” he added.
