5,000 Policemen Needed For Airports – CP
The Commissioner of Police, Airport Police Command, Mr Danazumi Doma, says no fewer than 5,000 policemen are needed to effectively patrol the nation’s airports.
Doma told our correspondent last Friday in Lagos that the current 500 policemen attached to the command was inadequate.
He said the command was also faced with the challenges of paucity of fund, communication gadgets as well as other logistics.
Doma said the five patrol vehicles deployed to the command by the Inspector General, Mr Ogbonna Onovo, would assist the command in its patrols.
“Sensitive areas where navigational aids are installed require good vehicles for regular patrol,’’ Doma said.
He said the command had mapped out strategies for training officers and men on aviation safety.
Doma said a training proposal and a proposed new organogram for the command would be sent to the Inspector General for consideration.
