Gov Amaechi Assures NOWA Of Educational Support
Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, says the state will continue to support the Naval Officers Wives Association (NOWA) in its efforts at providing qualitative education to Rivers children.
Giving this assurance Friday in Port Harcourt at the commissioning of the NOWA Primary School, Borikiri, Port Harcourt, Governor Amaechi, represented by his Deputy, Engr. Tele Ikuru, said this is in line with the government’s commitment to securing the future of children through education.
Commending NOWA for “bringing education to the doorstep of its host communities”, the state chief executive, at the occasion attended by the Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Ishaya Ibrahim, urged the association not to rest on its oars, stressing that “investment in education is your contribution t o securing the future of our children”.
He said the commissioning of the school is “step in the right direction and worthy of commendation” saying the state government would support the school with the necessary facilities, assuring that government will not leave any stone unturned in providing quality education to the people of the state.
Earlier, the National President of the association, Mrs. Grace Ibrahim, had expressed gratitude to the state government for its support to the association, saying that “the building of the school is borne out of the need to improve education at the primary level.
Mrs. Ibrahim, who is also the wife of the Chief of Naval Staff, stated that NOWA is committed to setting the standards in the education sector across the country, disclosing that the school, which is equipped with ICT and other modern educational facilities, will serve the Naval personnel and its host community.
