Nigeria Has Divine Purpose – Cleric
Despite the developmental backwardness of Nigeria, occasioned by poor leadership and greed, the president of the Living Gospel Mission, Reverend Fubara Ibama says Nigeria still has a divine purpose to fulfill in God’s kingdom. Reverend Ibama said this in his New Year message during a Passover night organised by the church in Port Harcourt. The clergyman said that Nigeria is divinely ordained by God to lead the black race but regretted that the nation is yet to fulfill this mission as a result of poor leadership. According to him, the country has the potentials to be the greatest on earth, but until the leadership shun corruption and greed, the dream will continue to remain elusive. On Niger Delta crisis, he said that programmes that will enable the repentant militants to contribute positively towards the development of their various communities must be put in place, while the government must ensure the full implementation of all programmes earmarked for the development of the region. Reverend Ibama said that the New Year should be used by Nigerian to reposition themselves by contributing positively towards the development of the society. According to him, the citizenry must support the government by doing the right thing, stressing that as Nigerians anything that is inimical to the progress of the society should be shunned by all and sundry. He also urged the leadership to be purposeful shunned corruption, greed and nepotism in order to enable the country move foreword.
