Yar’Adua Tasks AU Over Dafur
President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua has called on the government of Sudan to demonstrate transparency and accountability towards resolving the festering crisis in the Dafur region of the country.
Yar’Adua made the call yesterday when he presided over the African Union (AU) Peace and Security Council meeting in Abuja where strategies toward resolving the conflict in Dafur took centre- stage.
He explained that for a country to live in peace and harmony, the government should be transparent and accountable to the people, saying that his desire is to eradicate crisis in the region.
It would be recalled that the AU constituted a panel in February this year to look into the crisis in Dafur and proffer solution to end the conflict.
