PPMC Officials Cleared Over Fuel Diversion
A petition purportedly sent to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, over alleged manipulation of fuel distribution in the Eastern parts of the country by officials of the Pipelines and Products Marketing Company, PPMC has drawn the ire of Elders and Concerned Indigenous Marketers of Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN).
Briefing newsmen in Port Harcourt, Friday on behalf of the group, Chief Emeka Amadi said there has been no collusion between the PPMC officials in Port Harcourt and the marketers as claimed by the petitioner, Chief Ezekwesili Maduagwuna.
Chief Amadi noted that the petitioner was simply acting out of spite for the present executive of the IPMAN, Port Harcourt Depot, a position he had previously occupied.
According to the Elders and Indigenous Marketers, if there was need for any investigation, EFCC should direct its searchlight on the tenure of the IPMAN, Port Harcourt Executive between January 1, 2006 – 2008.
The group alleged that during the period the IPMAN executive used conduits to divert petrol, saying that no such thing happen with the current executive of the body at the Port Harcourt Depot.
The body also insinuated that Chief Maduagwuna was being jealous because an indigene of one of the Niger Delta States is currently IPMAN boss at the Port Harcourt Depot, adding that the EFCC should cross-check the source of approval to lift products of those he was accusing of diversion, saying his plan to destabilise the current Port Harcourt Depot IPMAN executive should be discountenanced.
