Nurses Pip All Stars FC 1-0 In Novelty Match
The National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives Rivers State Council, on Wednesday defeated All Stars Football club of Port Harcourt Club 1928, by a lone goal in a novelty match played at the Port Harcourt Club Football field. It was part of activities to round off this year’s Nurses Week celebrations.
The match saw both teams showcase exciting skills and impressive level of team play. They however, failed to find the net in the next half.
On resumption of the stanza the nurses dominated the game and had an opportunity to score via a spot kick after one of their players was brought down in the opponent’s box, two minutes to the end of the game.
Comrade Juliet Bereweriso, the chairperson of the Nurses and Midwives Union in the state converted the spot kick.
Speaking shortly after the match, Comrade Bereweriso advised all nurses to take their profession seriously, especially when rendering service to the public, saying that their job is a life saving one.
“I called on all nurses to take their jobs very seriously, because the job of a nurse is vital to human life,” she said.
According to her, very nurse is now working towards qualify health delivery to make the society better, in line wit the theme of this year’s Nurses Week celebration, ‘Delivering Quality Service to Communities: Nurse Leaving Care Innovations’
She said that the new slogan of Nurses is “SMILES”, which would enable them to do their job effectively.
The new slogan according to her is to aid a patient recover fast when he or she continuously sees smiles on the faces of the nurses.
Comrade Bereweriso explained that one of the major reasons to celebrate nurses’ week is to remind themselves that their duty is to render humanitarian services and educate some nurses on how to deliver quality services.
