First NHIS Hospital Commissioned At Isiodu
As part of moves toward complementing the effort of the Rivers State Government in bringing healthcare services to the people; the first privately-owned hospital to be run under the National Health Insurance Scheme has been commissioned at Isiodu in Emohua Local Government Area.
The hospital, which was established by Healthcare International in conjunction with the Emohua Local Government Council is to be managed by Princess Medical Centre.
Speaking at the ceremony, the representative of Southern Field Development Agency, Miss Scholar Emenike said that the project was conceived during the last stakeholders’ conference organised by the agency in collaboration with the Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency (RSSDA) last year.
She said that the stakeholders conference provided the link between the Isiodu Community and Healthcare International.
Also speaking, the Managing Director of Healthcare international, Mr. Toyin Awosika said that Health care International is one of the health management organizations that seeks to provide affordable healthcare services to Nigerians.
Mr. Awosika said that the project will have tremendous impact on the people since it will be operated on 24 hour basis.
In his speech, the Isiodu Youth President, Mr. Uba Orlu, warned youths against disruption of government properties.
