The authorities of the Rivers State University, Nkpolu Orowurokwo, Port Harcourt, have commended the invaluable contributions and support given to the institution by the members of the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) of the university towards the realisation of the university’s mandate.
The Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Blessing Didia made the commendation when he received in audience the outgoing executive of Non-Academic Staff Union in the institution led by its Chairman, Chuku Ebenezer.
Prof Didia praised the outgoing NASU leadership for putting the interest of the university first in all its decisions and actions which according to him, culminated in the peace and success achieved by the present management and sued for a smooth transition.
The Vice Chancellor of Rivers State University however criticised some directives given by the National Secretariat of the union which he said, were capable of causing unrest in the university.
Earlier in his speech, the outgoing NASU Chairman , Ebenezer Chuku expressed satisfaction for the love and support given to his executive by the Vice Chancellor and urged him to extend same to the incoming executive and members of the union.
Chuku told the Vice Chancellor that the tenure of his executive had expired and the stage is now set for election of new leadership of NASU in the university.
