Key Projects To Be Commissioned Before Elections -Wike
Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike has stated that his administration will drive key projects to completion in the coming few weeks.
The governor stated that no project will be stalled despite the campaign period because the welfare of Rivers people remain paramount.
A project evaluation tour this week revealed that key projects will be ready for commissioning between now and the January, ahead of the 2019 Elections.
The Bonny/Nembe/Bille Jetty which will drive water transport to key riverine communities in Rivers State and neighbouring Bayelsa State is nearing completion.
The key facilities at the modern Jetty have been completed. The arrival and departure terminals, banking hall, restaurant, loading bay have been completed.
The contractors are putting finishing touches to the Jetty, especially the parking lot and the roads in and out of the water transport project.
Several buildings at the Judges Quarters initiated and flagged off by the Wike administration have been completed.
The contractors are working on the environment of the Judges Quarters, especially the landscaping and drainages.
The Judges Quarters which is an owner-occupier quarter will be ready for commissioning before the General Elections in line with the pledge of Governor Wike.
For the Real Madrid Football Academy in Port Harcourt, work is progressing steadily as the contractors are working in line with specifications.
The contractors said that they will use the dry season to drive the academy to completion because it is a priority project for the Rivers State Government.
Also at the Ogbum-Nu-Abali/Nkpogu area, the Wike administration has completed the reclamation of 12 Hectares of land.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
