RSG Blasts Amaechi Over Dictatorship
Rivers State Government has called on the Minister of Transportation, Rt Hon Chubuike Rotimi Amaechi to be man enough to search his conscience, drop his penchant for dictatorship and take blame for the crisis that has engulfed the APC in the State and leave Governor Nyesom Wike alone.
Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communications,Barrister Emma Okah made this call yesterday in reaction to some uncomplimentary remarks made by the Minister against the State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike.
While addressing his party supporters at Rumueme Civic Centre in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, yesterday, Amaechi said: “Wike is panicking, sponsoring APC members to cause confusion, he must go in 2019.”
Okah described Amaechi as a confused man who is yet to learn that dictatorship has no place in a democracy.
“Rt Hon Amaechi is the problem of APC in Rivers State. He is the one who dictates when members can aspire to hold any office; He is the one who has treated party members like they are his slaves and the consequence is that the party is factionalised into three camps” Okah said, noting that Gov Wike has no hand in the split that has befallen the APC in Rivers State.
Continuing, Okah said “the present crisis rocking the APC originated from the Minister’s insistence that a serving Senator has no right to aspire to be Governor of Rivers State and the unilatetal appointment of the Minister’s Lagos, business partner as the preferred governorship candidate without regard to the right of other APC members to contest party primaries.
As if that is not enough, the Minister of Transportation has forced the APC in the state to adopt the umpopular indirect primaries to achieve his narrow objective instead of the open primaries option demanded by majority of party members.
Amaechi has brought ant infested wood into his house and he is reaping the visit of lizards”, Okah added.
It is therefore reckless for the Minister to accuse Governor Wike of sponsoring crisis in APC unless the Minister is not aware that he cannot beat a child and expect him not to cry.
On whether Governor Wike has developed Rivers State, Okah said it is pointless arguing with a man who does not see what every one else sees; hear what others hear or feel what others feel, noting that Gov Wike holds the gold medal in project execution among his peers since 2015
“Despite Amaechi’s unsuccessful efforts to pull down the Gov Nyesom Wike administration in the State, he has refused to show what he has done for Rivers State since he became a Minister in 2015,” Okah said.

HYPREP Tightens Security At Project Sites
Following the rupture of the ground tank of its water facility in Ebubu Community in Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State, the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP) has tightened security across all its project sites in Ogoniland.
HYPREP, which dropped this hint in a statement signed by its Head of Communications, Dr Enuolare Mba-Nwigoh, said the Project Coordinator, Prof Nenibarini Zabbey had given the directive for security to be tightened across all its project sites in Ogoniland.
Mba-Nwigoh noted that the tightening of security across the project sites has become necessary to forestall interference with the facilities.
He further disclosed that following the rupture of the ground tank of the Ebubu water facility, a team led by HYPREP’s Director of Technical Services, Prof Damian-Paul Aguiyi has visited the scene of the incident to assess the situation, stressing that the water facility has been cordoned off for public safety.
The statement indicated that following the incident, HYPREP has henceforth barred non-project personnel and non-facility staff from gaining access into any of its active project sites in Ogoniland without authorisation.
While appealing to residents of Ebubu Community and the public to remain calm, the Head of Communications assured them that the Project is taking prompt steps to restore water to the community, saying, the cause of the unfortunate incident is being investigated.
He equally noted that the Chief Security Officer of HYPREP has been directed to immediately tighten security across all its project sites in Ogoniland.
The statement said HYPREP is deeply concerned about the incident, stressing that despite the setback, the Project reiterates its commitment to delivering sustainable cleanup in Ogoniland.
