2019: Rivers Lawmaker Expresses Confidence In Wike
The lawmaker representing Ogu/Bolo constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon Evans Bipi says the performance of Governor Nyesom Wike in the first tenure of his administration inspired him to pick the expression of interest and nomination form to represent his constituency again, if voted in the 2019 general elections.
Bipi, who state this during an interview with The Tide shortly after submitting his form at the people’s Democratic Party (PDP) secretariat in Port Harcourt, said that he need the call by the people of Ogu/Bolo constituency to represent them again so that he (Bipi) would continue to work for their benefit in the Wike-led administration.
‘’I heard the call from my people to represent the again in the state House of Assembly and I accepted the call because I have a bogus plan for them. I have always been accessible to them and I will continue to work together with my governor who is also from the same constituency with men to ensure that my people continue to benefit from the government’’, he stressed, adding ‘’I will meet their expectations if voted for’’.
Another aspirant to the Rivers State House of Assembly, Dame Beatrice Awala from Ahoada-East/Abual/Odual Constituency told this correspondent that she was interested in the vying for the position of a lawmaker because she has a burning desire to make laws that would impact positively on grassroots people of her constituency.
According to her, ‘’As a grassroots person, I will make sure that I introduce laws that would affect the down-trodden and elevate their sufferings‘’, pointing out that issues concerning women would be paramount in her agenda in line with the new Rivers Vision of Governor Wike.
Awala, an immediate past member of the Ahoada-East caretaker committee (CTC), also noted that she would ensure that the youth were carried along in the government programmes, if voted into the legislative arm, adding ‘’With the cooperation of other lawmakers, we will bring development closer to the grassroots’’.
