The Rivers State Chief Executive, Chief Nyesom Wike, Stated This During The Flag-off Of The 50th Anniversary Free Medical Programme In Conjunction With The Rivers Foundation Usa In Port Harcourt.
Represented By His Deputy, Dr. Mrs Ipalibo Harry Banigo, The Governor Said The Present Administration Would Continue To Make Available, Accessible And Affordable Health Care Delivery One Of Its Major Policy Thrust.
Wike Said For The First Time In Rivers State Private Medical Practitioners Have Been Given Interest Free Loans To Upgrade And Equip Their Facilities Because Government Is Aware That About 70 Per Cent Its People Patronise Private Hospitals, Stressing That This Gesture Is To Make Healthcare Deliver Accessible To All.
He Said His Administration Is Not Only Building Projects But Building Human Capacity, Especially In The Health Sector, Stressing That The Complete Turnaround Of The Braithwaite Memorial Specialist Hospital Would Not Only Delivery Specialist Care But Also Train Medical Man Power For The Rivers State University Medical School.
According To The Governor The Total Rebuilding Of The Neuropsychiatric Hospital As Well As The Massive On-going Renovation Of Hospitals Across The State Are All Aimed At Improving Our Health Indices.
Wike, Who Described Jubilee As A Season Of Healing Said Rivers People Are Experiencing A New Phase Of Prosperity.
“This Is A Season Of Healing, Jubilee Is A Season Of Reconciliation, A Season Of Restoration And A Season Were God Wants To Prosper His People,” He Stated.
He Expressed Delight That The Joint Medical Mission Made Up Of Rivers State Organisations And Individuals Could Come Back Home To Celebrate The Jubilee, And Urged Health Workers In The State To Continue To Support The Wike-led Government.
Earlier The President Rivers State Foundation Incorporated, Dr. Suanu Bliss Wikina, Said His Organization Wants To Give Back To The Society By Keying Into The Golden Jubilee Celebration, And Commended Wike For The Numerous Projects Executed Under His Watch.
In Her Address The Permanent Secretary Of The Rivers State Ministry Of Health, Mrs. Caroline Wali, Said The Ministry Of Health Was Grateful To The Organizers Of The Medical Outreach And Called On The People To Take Advantage Of It.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
