Wike Gives Democracy New Definition In Rivers – Banigo
The Rivers State Deputy
Governor, Dr Ipalibo Harry Banigo says the flagging-off of the Bille-Bonny-Nembe Jetty and the Abua-Degema access road by Governor Nyesom Wike is an indication that he has the zeal and genuine commitment to fulfil his promises to the people.
In a statement in Port Harcourt, Banigo said the jetty and the road projects would address the riverine transportation challenge that were facing the people of Bille-Bonny-Nembe and other stakeholders in the past, describing the bold initiative of Wike to embark on projects that are strategic to the well-being of the people as unprecedented and highly commendable.
The deputy governor, who hails from both Degema and Bonny local government areas, noted in particular that the Abua-Degema access road when completed would not only open-up the area for socio-economic development but also generate employment opportunities for youth, just as the Bille-Bonny-Nembe Jetty would provide comfort, safety and security for the people.
Banigo noted that Wike’s even spread of projects to every nook and cranny of the state was indicative of a forward thinking leader desirous of transforming the state into an investor’s hub as well as boost its economic and infrastructural development.
The deputy governor expressed gratitude to the governor for his leadership traits which have made him to stand tall, among others, adding that he has given democracy a new definition in Rivers State even in the face of economic recession.
She called on traditional rulers, community leaders and the entire people of the areas where the projects are located to support and co-operate with the construction companies handling the projects to ensure that they are successfully completed in record time and according to specification.
