Alleged Negligence: RVHA Summons RIMA Boss
The Rivers State House of Assembly has summoned the managing Director of the State Micro-Finance Agency (RIMA), Mr. Ipalibo Sogules to explain why his management shunned a meeting with the House’s Joint Committee on Agencies, Commissions and Finance at the agency office.
The Managing Director of RIMA was invited to appear before the House on September 8, 2016, following a statement signed by the Chairman of the Assembly Joint Committee on Agencies, Commissions and Finance, Hon. Nathaniel Owaji in Port Harcourt.
According to the statement, the management of the Micro-Finance Agency failed to turn-up for a meeting with the lawmakers at the agency’s office as part of the House oversight functions.
Owaji, in the statement, described the attitude of the RIMA management as an insult to the State House of Assembly.
He directed the agency’s management to appear before the House to explain its level of operation so far in boosting small businesses to improve the economic standard of Rivers people.
The joint Committee Chairman maintained that further failure to appear before the Assembly will amount to total disobedience to the legislative arm of government in the state, warning that the agency would be sanctioned accordingly.
Owaji regretted that the agency intentionally neglected the House Committee members, who were at their office on oversight function, and for the betterment of the Rivers people.
