Guanah Farms, RIFAN Partner On Rice Farming
Raymos Guanah Farms
Limited, based in Delta, says it is partnering with the Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN), Bayelsa Chapter, to improve mechanised rice farming in the state.
The Chief Executive Officer of the farm, Mr Raymos Guanah, disclosed this in an interview with newsmen after meeting with the officials of RIFAN in Yengoa, recently.
Guanah said that the partnership was necessary to enable the outfit tap into the enormous agricultural potential of the state, create wealth and job opportunities for the youth.
According to him, agricultural sector has vast potential to create financial boost not only for the Niger-Delta region but also for the nation’s economy.
“The agricultural sector can provide vast employment opportunities for citizens and make them self-employed rather than waiting for government jobs.
“We have come to partner with RIFAN and to help the association exploit the agricultural potential in Bayelsa; we will help to boost mechanised farming and make farming less stressful for farmers.
“In Delta, all our processes are fully mechanised, from land preparations to harvest; we also have modern rice mill, where we process our rice.
“So, we have discussed with the leadership of Bayelsa RIFAN on ways of partnership in terms of cultivating and processing of rice.
‘’We are impressed on what the leadership of the association has put on table to move forward,’’ he said.
“We have agreed to partner with members of the association, though we will still sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with them to cement the relationship.
“We are going to be supporting them with modern tractors, planters, fertiliser spreaders as well as processing,” he said.
Guanah urged the youth, mothers and fathers in the state to embrace agriculture, adding that farming, like any other professions could offer satisfaction.
