Refs Threaten To Boycott NPL
The Nigeria Referees Association (NRA) has again threatened to boycott Nigeria league matches after what they described as “renewed attacks” on their members.
In a statement by NRA President Tade Azeez, the referees confirmed the attack on the referee for Sunday’s league match between hosts Warri Wolves and Wikki, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
“The attack on referees has surprisingly continued with Sunday’s attack on the referee who handled the Warri Wolves vs Wikki Tourists match,” the statement read in part.
“The NRA has considered it necessary to boycott all matches involving any team referees are either harassed or physically assaulted by them and their supporters.
