Cricket Tourney: Rivers Emerges Champions

Cricket Team yesterday emerged champions of 2016 edition of the just concluded National Women Cricket Championship, after defeating Kaduna by seven wrickets in the finals.
The competition which was held at the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) had Kaduna, Abuja, Rivers, Enugu and Anambra take part in the tournament.
Team Rivers women, Pathfinders thrashed Abuja by five wickets, beat their Anambra counterpart by 47 runs to book a ticket to the finals against Kaduna on Monday.
It would be recalled that the final play between Kaduna and Rivers Pathfinder was scheduled for Sunday, but postponed due to a heavy downpour after first inning with Kaduna scoring 92 runs for nine (9) wickets in 30 overs.
However, the final match was concluded on Monday as Pathfinders won the championship by seven (7) wickets.
The competition was a 3-day event which started on Friday, and ended on Sunday.
